BIPOC Scholarship

2022 Ohio NLG Radical BIPOC Scholarship Fund

The mission of the 2022 Ohio NLG Radical BIPOC Scholarship Fund is to support and strengthen each recipient’s long-term commitment to and ability to engage in radical movement lawyering

Funds are intended to support recipients while they undertake projects and work in the tradition of  “peoples’ lawyering,” and to apply their talents and skills to find creative ways to use the law to  advance justice under the supervision of licensed attorneys and mentors.

Projects should provide legal, political, and educational support on a wide variety of issues such as racial justice, mass incarceration, defunding police, housing rights, union democracy, workplace health and  safety, LGBTQ rights, defense of protesters from police harassment and criminal sanctions, and  international human rights.

You may apply for this scholarship if you already have a project or internship arranged, or if you wish to work with Ohio NLG to secure an internship or define a project.

Scholarships will likely range from $1,500 to  $5,000, to be determined by a selection panel based on proposal content, individual need, and availability of funds.
